Alloys and Allergies

One of the more common metal allergies that people may have is to nickel. One thing that many people do not realize, is that Surgical Stainless Steel contains a small amount of Nickel (usually 8% in jewelry). If you have only a slight allergy, then you can probably wear Surgical Stainless Steel for a few hours, or possibly all day. Or, you may be so sensitive to nickel that not only can you not wear any earrings with it in them, but also you cannot wear watches, or have the buttons on your Levi's touch your skin.

For these severely nickel-allergic people, we suggest the following alternative: Titanium- Titanium is for metal sensitive people and children or adults with newly pierced ear holes. Its neutral grey color blends well with many fashions, and will allow the sensitive to "finally wear earrings". Niobium - Niobium is not plated or painted. It is anodized, meaning it is colored by dipping it into an electrically charged "bath". Because it contains no nickel, most people with metal allergies can safely wear Niobium. Nylon - Nylon is for people that can not tolerate metal at all.

The below french ear hooks and hoops are all hand made by me. I was able to find Titanium and niobium wire from a different supplier , at a lower price. I am able to pass on the savings to you too. As you can see below my hand made hooks are not as uniform as the machine made french ear hooks on the other page, but I am able to sell them at a lower price because the wire is not as expensive as I was getting before for the hoops. I have also made a new type of ear hook that is very easy to use. NO TOOLS NEEDED, just slip the charm over the loop from the end you put through your ear and down to the bottom of the loop, as seen in demo below.
